Paris Saint-Germain have been named the best football team in the world, ranking ahead of Arsenal and Barcelona in a list published by football outlet Planet Football.

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Brighton & Hove Albion complete the top 10, with the ranking taking into account league performances, UEFA Champions League results and overall team form.

According to Planet Football on Wednesday, the rankings demonstrate how the balance of power in football can shift quickly as teams experience changes in form during the season.

PSG lead the standings, with their recent success in the Champions League identified as a major factor behind their position among Europe’s top clubs.

Arsenal occupy second place, with their defensive solidity and ability to make matches difficult for opponents highlighted as key strengths.

Barcelona are third, with their attacking quality and strong domestic performances contributing to their position, although their lengthy wait for another Champions League title remains a concern.

Bayern Munich rank fourth, ahead of Spanish giants Real Madrid in fifth. Manchester City are sixth, while Liverpool occupy seventh place in a ranking largely dominated by clubs from Europe’s leading domestic leagues.

Atletico Madrid sit eighth, with Planet Football pointing to Diego Simeone’s side’s organisation and ability to compete against stronger opposition. Inter Milan are ninth, recognised for their consistency in Italian football and regular appearances in the latter stages of the Champions League.

Brighton & Hove Albion complete the top 10 in 10th place. Their attractive style of play and impressive displays, including a 3-0 victory over Arsenal, have strengthened their standing among Europe’s leading teams.
