Portugal have named Bernardo Silva as the new captain of the national team.
This follows Cristiano Ronaldo's retirement from international football on Thursday.
According to The Touchline, the criteria include that the player with the most caps should be the captain.
Silva has made 115 appearances for Portugal, scoring 14 goals.
The Real Madrid midfielder will now take over the armband from Ronaldo for future matches.
Silva made his debut in 2015 and won the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025.
