Ademola Lookman has shed light on why Atletico Madrid couldn't get past VfB Stuttgart in their Champions League clash on Tuesday, when the match ended 1-1 in Germany. The Nigerian winger set up Julian Alvarez's equaliser in the second half, after Jamie Leweling had given Stuttgart the lead earlier.

Lookman told the club's media that Stuttgart came out firing. "A strong team playing away from home is never easy," he said, explaining the difficulty his side faced.

The forward added that Atletico pressed hard throughout but the sending-off changed everything. "We kept pushing, but unfortunately, we went down to 10 men," according to him.

Atletico Madrid will turn their attention to LaLiga when they visit Deportivo this weekend.
