The Democratic Republic of the Congo reached the last 16 of League D at the U15 World Cup after beating Mauritius 4-1 in Baku.
The result marks a significant response from the Leopards, who had made a hesitant start to the tournament while adapting to the competition. Under coach Zico Tumba, they produced a much-improved attacking display and secured their place in the knockout stage in emphatic fashion.
The performance also strengthened the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s position as serious contenders for the League D title. Their collective play was more confident and effective, allowing the young Leopards to put their early difficulties behind them.
Their campaign is now entering its next phase, with the team able to target a place in the quarter-finals and continue its pursuit of the trophy.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo will face the winner of the match between Burkina Faso and the Dominican Republic for a place in the last eight.
