Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reflected on his long-running rivalry with Sir Alex Ferguson, who led Manchester United for many years.
“We were like two boxers,” Wenger said of the intense competition between the pair during their time in charge of two of English football’s leading clubs.
The Frenchman managed Arsenal from 1996 until 2018, while the Scot was Manchester United manager from 1986 to 2013.
6 November marked the 40th anniversary of Ferguson’s appointment as manager of the Red Devils.
