The 49ers pulled off a blockbuster trade on their bye week.
San Francisco acquired defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Colts in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick — and George Kittle is loving it. After the news was reported, the 49ers tight end quickly took to social media with a five-word reaction to the trade.
“DEFOOOOO THE BOYS ARE BACK @DeForestBuckner, @JuiceCheck44, @49ers,” Kittle wrote in a post on X.

Buckner spent the first four seasons of his career with the 49ers, who drafted him with the No. 7 overall pick in 2016. Kittle and Buckner played three seasons together for San Francisco, including the tight end’s rookie campaign in 2017.
Now, the two are reuniting in 2026 as the 49ers look to make a Super Bowl run.
The 49ers have made two major moves to bolster their defensive tackle room, adding Osa Odighizuwa from the Cowboys in the offseason and now Buckner ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
San Francisco was expected to be active on the trade market and the front office may not be finished with bolstering injured areas on the roster. The wide receiver room has been hampered since training camp and could use a key addition.
For now, the 49ers can celebrate the Buckner reunion, which certainly has Kittle hyped.
