Bruce Prichard is expected to step down from his role as WWE’s Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent after WrestleMania 43, according to a report from PWInsider’s Mike Johnson.

Johnson reported that multiple sources confirmed Prichard, 63, plans to retire from the position after WrestleMania season. Prichard would stay connected to the company as a consultant but would no longer live in Stamford, Connecticut, where WWE is headquartered, or keep his current duties. One source told PWInsider that WrestleMania is the end of the run, while another said there could be some leeway on the timeline.

WrestleMania 43 is scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

WWE has not announced any change to Prichard’s role, and there is no word yet on who would take over. Per the report, WWE’s three writing teams for Raw, SmackDown and NXT currently fall under Prichard in the company’s creative hierarchy.

Prichard’s time in WWE

Prichard broke into the business under Houston promoter Paul Boesch. In WWE in the late 1980s and 1990s, he played Brother Love on television and was the original manager of The Undertaker, but his main work was backstage as one of Vince McMahon’s top producers and lieutenants.

He left WWE in 2008 and later worked for Impact Wrestling and MLW. In 2016, he started the Something to Wrestle With podcast with Conrad Thompson, which became one of the most popular wrestling podcasts and was adapted into a series for the WWE Network. JBL now co-hosts the show with Thompson most weeks, with Prichard still appearing.

Prichard returned to WWE full-time in 2019 in a top creative position, working under McMahon and later under Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who became Chief Content Officer in 2022. His duties have included running TV tapings when Levesque is not present.

Prichard was away from his role for a stretch earlier this year after WrestleMania 42.
