Mathare United Women Thrash Bungoma Queens 5-1 as Trinity Starlets Also Win

Mathare United Women produced one of their strongest performances of the FKF Women's Premier League campaign on Saturday, overwhelming Bungoma Queens 5-1 at Dandora Stadium.

The Slum Girls established control early and scored five times before half-time, leaving Bungoma with a mountain to climb after a disastrous opening 45 minutes.

Although the visitors found a consolation goal after the break, Mathare's commanding first-half display had already settled the contest.

Jerrine Adhiambo set the tone by scoring inside the opening minute, registering the fastest goal of the campaign. Her early finish put Bungoma under immediate pressure and gave Mathare the perfect start.

Seline Achieng doubled the advantage in the eighth minute with her first goal of the season before Mitchelle Waithera added a third in the 17th minute.

Mathare continued to exploit the gaps in the Bungoma defence as the half progressed.

Wincate Kaari converted a superb free-kick in the 26th minute, and Brenda Atieno found the net in the 42nd minute to complete a five-goal first half.

Bungoma managed to respond after the interval through Lilian Nekesa, but the goal did little to change the outcome as Mathare comfortably protected their advantage.

Elsewhere, Trinity Starlets recorded their second consecutive victory after beating Zetech Sparks 4-2 at Afraha Stadium.

Anita Bakari delivered a standout performance, scoring three times to lead Trinity's attack. Charity Huku contributed the other goal as the hosts secured another important result.

Zetech managed two goals through Monica Nyakowa and Eugene Linda, but their efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.

The result gives Trinity further encouragement as they seek to build consistency in the competition, while Zetech will need to address the defensive problems that allowed their opponents to score four times.

Meanwhile, Elim White Ladies and Vihiga Queens shared six goals in a 3-3 draw at Ndura Sports Complex in Kitale.
