Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has said he is beginning to rediscover the form that made him one of the best players in the Premier League.
Speaking on November 4 ahead of the Champions League clash against RB Leipzig, Foden said his recent performances have boosted his confidence. The comments were reported by Oman Observer, Channel News Asia and Business Recorder on November 4, 2026.
Foden, who is 26 years old, won the Premier League Player of the Season award and the Professional Footballers Association Player of the Year award in 2024 after scoring 27 goals in all competitions. It was the best season of his career.
He later suffered a dip in form that cost him a place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup. He also received a red card in the Manchester derby against Manchester United.
Foden scored his first Premier League goal of the season against Ipswich Town last month after serving suspension. He followed it up with a hat-trick and an assist in City's 5-1 Champions League win over AEK Athens.
Foden said the break after the red card helped him. He said he came back fresh minded and sharp.
Manchester City now need three points against RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena to consolidate their position in the top group of the Champions League. The match is scheduled for the night of November 4.
Manchester City have won four out of six encounters against RB Leipzig in UEFA competitions. Erling Haaland has scored 12 goals in eight matches against the German club.
Asked about his international future, Foden said he has not spoken to England manager Thomas Tuchel since being left out of the World Cup squad and is concentrating on performing for City.
