President William Ruto has visited the Raila Odinga International Stadium at Talanta Sports City, sharing photographs from inside the new facility as preparations continue ahead of a major international football match.

Ruto posed on the pitch, giving two thumbs up as he captured the moment. Other photographs offered views of the stadium's red and green seats, giving Kenyans a glimpse of the venue's interior.

The visit comes ahead of the highly anticipated friendly match between German giants Bayern Munich and Dutch side Ajax, scheduled for January 5, 2027.

The fixture is expected to be among the biggest sporting events hosted in Kenya, bringing two well-known European clubs to Nairobi. It will also offer local football fans an opportunity to watch international teams compete on home soil.

The stadium forms part of the wider Talanta Sports City development and is named after veteran opposition leader and African Union Commission Chairperson Raila Odinga.

Its seating arrangement features a striking combination of red and green, while the playing surface appeared well prepared in the pictures shared by the President.

Ruto's photographs attracted attention because the facility is expected to take centre stage during the Bayern Munich and Ajax encounter. The match will place Kenya in the international football spotlight and provide an opportunity to showcase the country's ability to host major sporting events.

The choice of the venue for the fixture also highlights the role of the new stadium in Kenya's sports infrastructure plans. With two established European clubs expected in Nairobi, attention is likely to focus on the facility and the arrangements for hosting the teams and their supporters.

Ruto's visit offered a public glimpse of the stadium as the countdown to the January match continues. The images showed him taking time on the pitch and posing against the backdrop of the newly installed seats.

The Bayern Munich-Ajax fixture is scheduled for January 5, 2027, at the Raila Odinga International Stadium. Further attention will be on preparations as the date approaches, with fans waiting to see the two clubs play in Nairobi.
