Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has achieved another major milestone after graduating from the prestigious FIFA Players' Executive Programme following 18 months of intensive training.
The 33-year-old Kenyan football legend received his graduation certificate in Miami, United States, in June 2026, marking an important transition from professional football to sports administration.
The programme, organised by FIFA, targets active and retired footballers and coaches seeking to develop leadership and management skills for executive positions in football clubs, leagues and national associations. It combines online learning, physical sessions, practical case studies, interactive presentations and visits to football organisations.
Wanyama's training covered several key areas, including football management, youth development, leadership and financial planning. Some financial management modules were delivered in partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also studied personal branding, crisis communication, philanthropy, and physical and mental well-being.
His graduation places him among a select group of former footballers and sports professionals equipped with the skills to influence decision-making and management in the global football industry.
Wanyama enjoyed an impressive playing career, representing Celtic, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Major League Soccer, where he featured for CF Montréal. He also captained the Kenyan national team, earning recognition as one of the country's greatest footballers.
His latest achievement signals growing ambitions beyond the pitch, with opportunities to take up leadership positions in football management, club administration or federation leadership.
