Chelsea fans woke up to shocking news today. Ahead of the big London derby against Tottenham on Saturday, Chelsea has 12 players who could miss the match.

The Blues are flying under new manager Xabi Alonso. They just beat Everton 2-0 with two goals from Joao Pedro. That win took Chelsea to 4th place in Premier League. Now they face arch rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

But injuries have hit Stamford Bridge hard.

According to Football London, new goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is out after surgery on fractured jaw. The Argentine got injured after collision with Jarrad Branthwaite against Everton. He posted from hospital bed saying he will be back in few weeks.

Club captain Reece James is also out. Chelsea confirmed he had knee operation and will miss around 3 months. This is big blow for Xabi Alonso.

Winger Jamie Gittens is also missing after ankle injury while playing for England U21s.

Pep Chavarria missed Everton game with injury from training. Malo Gusto missed with illness. Both are doubtful for Tottenham.

This means Xabi Alonso is forced into one major change. Young keeper Mike Penders will make his full Premier League debut against Tottenham. He came on against Everton when Martinez got injured.

Good news for Chelsea though. Josh Acheampong is shining. The 20-year-old defender has started 6 of 9 games this season. Only Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill have played more minutes. Chelsea is now preparing bumper new contract for him until 2029. He is seen as untouchable by Xabi Alonso.

In attack, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers are in great form. Joao Pedro scored brace against Everton and looks ready for Tottenham.

Tottenham also has problems. They just got first win of season 3-1 against Coventry City. But Robertson, Tosin Adarabioyo and Omar Marmoush all had to be substituted with injuries.

Head to head, Chelsea has dominated. Blues have 83 wins vs Tottenham 56 wins from 181 matches. Chelsea is on 6-match winning run against Spurs.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-1 Tottenham. Home advantage and Xabi Alonso tactics will be too much.
