The Premier League serves up another exciting weekend, with 10 fixtures offering plenty of talking points. Arsenal will be hoping to maintain their impressive run against Hull City, while Manchester United face a tricky test against an Aston Villa side managed by Unai Emery. Here are my predictions and insights ahead of the weekend action.
Arsenal vs Hull City
Arsenal will be favourites heading into this match, especially with their impressive home form. The Gunners have been in excellent shape, recently securing a statement victory over Liverpool before beating Slavia Prague in the Champions League.
Hull, however, should not be underestimated. They showed fighting spirit in their 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town, but their recent struggles and defensive vulnerabilities could make this a difficult afternoon at the Emirates.
Arsenal's attacking quality should eventually make the difference, although Hull could find a consolation goal. Prediction: 2-1 to Arsenal.
Manchester United vs Aston Villa
This is arguably one of the most intriguing fixtures of the weekend. United will have home advantage, but Aston Villa arrive with enough quality to make life difficult for Michael Carrick's men.
Villa's attacking threat, particularly through Nicolas Jackson and their creative players, could expose United's defensive weaknesses. United, however, have a strong historical record at Old Trafford against Villa and will be determined to deliver a response in front of their supporters.
The midfield battle could be decisive, with Bruno Fernandes expected to play an important role in creating opportunities. Despite Villa's threat, United are tipped to squeeze through with a narrow 2-1 victory.
Everton 2 - 1 Coventry City
Leeds United 1 - 1 Tottenham
Fulham 2 - 1 Newcastle United
Arsenal 2 - 1 Hull City
Nottingham Forest 0 - 3 Manchester City
Sunderland 0 - 2 Chelsea
Ipswich Town 2 - 2 Bournemouth
Crystal Palace 1 - 3 Liverpool
Brighton 2 - 2 Brentford
Manchester United 2 - 1 Aston Villa
There are several difficult fixtures to call this weekend, but Arsenal's home encounter with Hull and Manchester United's meeting with Aston Villa stand out as two games worth watching closely.
