Tusker FC To Get Ksh 13 Million From CAF After Continental Elimination

Tusker FC are in line for a financial payment of approximately Ksh 13 million from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), despite failing to advance beyond the preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.

The payment will offer some relief to the Kenyan club after their continental ambitions were cut short by Tanzania's Singida Black Stars, who secured a 2-1 aggregate victory to progress to the group stage.

CAF's solidarity package provides $100,000 to clubs eliminated during the preliminary rounds.

The amount is split into two equal payments of $50,000, with the combined sum worth approximately Ksh 12.99 million at the conversion rate supplied.

The financial assistance is intended to help participating clubs manage expenses associated with continental football, particularly travel and logistical costs.

For Tusker, it offers compensation of sorts after missing out on the more substantial rewards available to teams that progress further in the competition.

The Brewers' exit was confirmed on Sunday at the Azam Complex, where they drew 1-1 with Singida in the return leg.

Having lost the first meeting 1-0 at Nyayo National Stadium, Tusker needed a victory to overturn the deficit.

Jonathan Sowah put the hosts ahead in the 68th minute, extending their aggregate advantage.

Victor Mbaoma responded for Tusker in the 82nd minute, but the visitors failed to score again, allowing Singida to advance.

Tusker entered the competition as Kenya's domestic cup winners after defeating Kenya Police FC in last season's Mozzart Bet Cup final.

Their elimination means they will not compete for the Confederation Cup's top prize of $4 million, while the runners-up stand to earn $1 million.

Clubs reaching the semi-finals are due $750,000 each, with quarter-finalists set to receive $550,000 apiece.

Teams finishing third or fourth in their groups will earn $400,000 each.
