Kitara has nothing to lose as they face Al Ahly in Cairo

Kitara will seek to stun Al Ahly at the Cairo International stadium when the two sides face off in the second leg of the Caf Confederation Cup second preliminary round on Sunday.

The Egyptian side hold a first leg advantage after claiming a come from behind 2-1 victory at Hoima City stadium last week and are clear favourites heading into the fixture.

However, in football, everything is possible and Wasswa Bbosa has rallied his side to give a good account of themselves and see what happens.

“In football, everything is possible,” said the gaffer who will watch from the sidelines again with George Lutalo taking full charge.

“Like they came to Hoima and won, we can also do but we need to dig deeper if such a result is to be achieved,” he added.

Besides Nicholas Kasozi who got injured in the last training session before flying out, Kitara has a health squad to pick from.

Meanwhile, the hosts have dropped their key players Emam Ashour and Mohamed Hany from the squad following their abysmal show in the midweek 3-3 draw in the Egyptian Premier League.

Hany came on a substitute in Hoima in the closing stages while Ashour was unused in that game.

Al Ahly still have issues with their backline with injuries to Amr El-Gazar and Moroccan left-back Youssef Belammari as well as Egyptian international Yasser Ibrahim.

That leaves Hady Reyad, Yassin Marie and Moroccan defender Achraf Dari as the club’s only fit central defenders.

Veteran goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy is expected to continue in goal in the absence of regular goalkeeper Mostafa Shobier, who is celebrating his wedding.

Ahly have more options in attack, however, with Ahmed Sayed “Zizo”, Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki, and forwards Soufiane Benjdida and Mounsef Bakrar available for Sunday’s continental clash.
