West Ham United have parted ways with head coach Nuno Espírito Santo with immediate effect following a disappointing start to their Championship campaign.
The decision was confirmed on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after the London-based club dropped to eighth position in the league standings following consecutive home defeats against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.
The Hammers had high expectations heading into the season after suffering relegation from the Premier League last term. The club was determined to secure an immediate return to the top flight but has struggled to maintain the consistency required to challenge for automatic promotion.
Nuno, who took charge in September 2025 after replacing Graham Potter, was unable to prevent West Ham's relegation and subsequently faced mounting pressure as results failed to improve.
In an official statement, West Ham explained that the decision followed a thorough review of the team's performances and the board's belief that a managerial change was necessary to keep the club's objectives on track.
Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also left the club alongside the Portuguese tactician.
Former West Ham midfielder Scott Parker has emerged as one of the leading candidates to replace Nuno. Parker previously managed Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley, guiding all three clubs to Premier League promotion.
Other names linked to the vacancy include Rob Edwards and Kieran McKenna, although the club has yet to announce a permanent appointment.
In the meantime, former club captain Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will oversee preparations ahead of Wednesday's Championship fixture against Cardiff City.
West Ham now face an important decision as they seek a new manager capable of reviving their promotion ambitions and restoring confidence among supporters.
