South African coaches Rulani Mokwena and Steve Barker have continued to leave their mark on the African football scene after being named Coach of the Month for October in their respective leagues.
Mokwena has enjoyed a remarkable start to his latest coaching chapter with Egyptian giants Pyramids FC, winning all 14 matches he has overseen across all competitions.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor guided his side to three victories from as many matches in October.
Pyramids recorded a convincing 4-1 win over Ceramica Cleopatra, followed by another 4-1 triumph against El Gaish before edging Wadi Degla 2-1.
The October accolade marks Mokwena’s second consecutive Coach of the Month award, having also claimed the September honour.
Pyramids are currently leading the Egyptian Premier League standings with 24 points from eight matches, underlining their impressive start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, Steve Barker has also been enjoying a sensational run in Tanzania with Simba SC.
The South African coach has guided his team to 10 consecutive victories in the league, collecting a maximum of 30 points to sit at the top of the table.
Like Mokwena, Barker has secured back-to-back Coach of the Month awards after also being recognised for his performances in September.
Simba enjoyed a perfect October, winning all three of their league fixtures.
They defeated arch-rivals Young Africans 2-1, thrashed Mashujaa 6-1 and secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Fountain Gate.
Both South African coaches have also enjoyed success beyond their respective domestic leagues, having guided Pyramids and Simba into the group stages of the CAF Champions League during October.
