SportPesa League action continues with midweek fixtures on Wednesday, October 28, featuring six thrilling matches across different venues as the top flight gathers momentum.
Gor Mahia sit top of the table after three rounds on nine points, with 3K FC and Mara Sugar rounding off the top three sides on five points.
AFC Leopards and Shabana, also on five points, occupy fourth and fifth places, respectively, heading into a round where teams will be hunting for three crucial points.
Key action will see reigning champions Gor Mahia on the road, looking to maintain their flawless run as they visit stubborn Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium.
Gor are the only side yet to drop points in their opening three matches, leading the table with nine points and a perfect start to their title defence.
After opening their campaign with a 4-2 victory, they travelled for their second fixture and secured a narrow 1-0 win over APS Bomet.
Last weekend, they again had to grind out a 1-0 victory over Bandari FC at Nyayo Stadium, underlining their credentials as contenders for a 22nd SportPesa League title.
Head coach Charles Akonnor stated that they would make a few changes to the regular starting lineup, giving players who have impressed off the bench an opportunity to feature.
“This time, there will be one or two changes because the rest of the team have played 90 minutes and above. We want to give those who came in from the bench a chance, and because we know what we are doing as a team, we are not too worried about giving everyone an opportunity,” Akonnor said ahead of the clash.
While Gor Mahia arrive on the back of three consecutive wins, their hosts will be playing their third match of the season, looking to preserve their own unbeaten run.
Kakamega Homeboyz kicked off their campaign on a high note, beating Mombasa United 1-0 before being held to a 1-1 draw by Ulinzi Stars a week ago.
They are yet to play their third-round fixture, which was called off due to Tusker FC’s CAF Confederation Cup commitments.

With confidence building, coach Edward Manoah believes his side will make the contest difficult for the record champions.
“We are at home, and we want to make this a difficult game for Gor Mahia. Our supporters expect us to fight for every ball, and that is exactly what we must do. We respect them, but we are not afraid of them,” he said.
“We have prepared well, and the players know what is at stake. If we remain disciplined, play with confidence and take our chances, we can get the result we want,” he added.
Gor Mahia won both meetings between the sides last season, and on Wednesday, from 2pm EAT, they will look to extend that winning streak.
Meanwhile, over 250 kilometres away, Gor’s arch-rivals AFC Leopards will be seeking a return to winning ways when they visit Mara Sugar at William Ole Ntimama Stadium from 4:15pm.
Ingwe head into the encounter unbeaten in their opening three matches, although they have collected only five points from a possible nine, courtesy of two draws and a single victory.
Before an entertaining goal-laden draw at home against Shabana FC last weekend, they had registered their first win of the season with a 2-1 triumph over Kenya Police FC, having opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Bandari.
Now chasing their second victory of the campaign and sitting fourth on the log, Fred Ambani’s men will be eager to bounce back against a side above them on goal difference, with Mara Sugar occupying third place.
Mara Sugar have also made a solid start, opening with a 2-2 draw against 3K FC before claiming a 2-1 home win over Mombasa United, followed by a goalless stalemate against Ulinzi Stars last week.
