Kenyan football star Michael Olunga has received a spectacular tribute in Qatar after his name and image were projected onto the iconic Al Jaber Twin Towers in Doha.

The Harambee Stars captain shared an image of the display on Facebook on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, accompanied by the brief caption, “The streets.”

The projection featured Olunga’s face and name across the skyscrapers, highlighting his profile in Qatar, where he has established himself as one of Kenya’s most successful football exports.

Olunga plays as a striker for Qatari Stars League side Al-Arabi SC, having joined the club after a successful spell at Al-Duhail SC.

Olunga scored 112 goals in 129 appearances for Al-Duhail before moving to Al-Arabi.

At Al-Arabi, the Kenyan striker has continued to contribute in front of goal, scoring seven goals in 20 appearances for the club.

His achievements included the Qatar Stars League Golden Boot in the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons, when he scored 24 and 22 league goals respectively.

The two consecutive scoring titles cemented his reputation as one of the most prolific forwards in Qatari football.

Before moving to Qatar, Olunga made his mark in Japan with Kashiwa Reysol, where he scored 28 goals in the 2020 J1 League season to finish as the competition’s top scorer. He was also named the league’s Most Valuable Player that year.

Harambee Stars captain

Beyond club football, Olunga captains Kenya’s national team, Harambee Stars, and remains one of the country’s leading attacking players.

He has represented Kenya in international competitions, contributing goals and experience to the national side.

The skyscraper display offered a striking visual tribute to the striker, whose career has taken him across several leagues, including Sweden, China, Spain, Japan and Qatar.

Olunga shared the image with the caption “The streets,” without providing further details about the display, as his name and image appeared across the Doha skyline.
