Cristiano Ronaldo has joined the growing number of football stars rallying behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia following the Paris Saint-Germain forward’s serious knee injury.
The Georgian international suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during PSG’s 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in Paris, dealing a major blow to the French club’s campaign.
PSG announced that the 25-year-old would undergo surgery on his right knee “in the coming days” after he collided with Barcelona youngster Xavi Espart during the match.
Although the club has yet to provide a recovery schedule, Kvaratskhelia faces the possibility of missing the remainder of the season.
The former Napoli winger addressed his injury in an emotional Instagram message, promising supporters that he would return to action in better shape despite the difficult period ahead.
“I thought I was prepared for everything, but not, and I realize that God chose me and if I protected the players on another field, I’m ready to go through these months in labor, pain, tears,” he said.
“I know I have to come back stronger for my people who always have my back, I won’t let you down; I promise I won’t waste a second. Thank you all for your support see you soon.”
Ronaldo, who has experienced the physical and mental challenges associated with injuries during his illustrious career, responded with an encouraging message to the PSG attacker.
“The hardest battles in football are often the ones nobody sees. I know that feeling, Kvara.
“But never forget what brought you this far, and don’t let a difficult moment make you doubt how far you can go. Keep that fire on. Your best is still to come.”
The Portuguese superstar’s message was among several expressions of support Kvaratskhelia received from fellow footballers following the announcement.
PSG captain Marquinhos, Ferran Torres, Achraf Hakimi and Désiré Doué were also among those who reacted to the winger’s post.
Doué offered his teammate further encouragement, writing: “Stay strong my brother you will come back stronger, God is with you,”
Kvaratskhelia’s absence would be a significant setback for PSG as they continue their pursuit of silverware this season. The club will now await further information on his operation and rehabilitation before determining when he could return to competitive football.
For the Georgian forward, the immediate priority will be recovering from the injury, with the support of his teammates, fans and fellow football stars providing encouragement during a challenging spell in his career.
