Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has admitted that Carlos Baleba will miss this weekend's Premier League clash against Aston Villa with a hamstring injury. The midfielder was forced off in some discomfort during the Champions League win over AS Roma earlier this week.
Carrick was asked for an update on Tuesday evening but was unable to provide a clear response. A few days later, there is some clarity over his injury situation with the United boss hinting that he could be out beyond the November international break.
He said on Friday: "Carlos we don’t know exactly but it will be a number of weeks. It’s definitely not this week or over the international break, it will be a little bit longer than that."
The United boss has also been without Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu but was able to provide a positive update on the latter.
Carrick said: "Patrick has done a little bit of training this week, very small. We've got to be patient with that. He's had a good period of time with a couple of hamstring [injuries] so we have to be careful, but he's slowly getting back with us so we'll have to see whether he can be with us at the weekend or not."
Benjamin Sesko and Manuel Ugarte are long-term absentees for United while Lisandro Martinez is serving a one-match suspension after his red card at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
Dorgu has not played for United since suffering an injury playing for Denmark in the last domestic pause. Rashford and Shaw suffered their issues either side of the extended international break with the former briefly returning only to miss the last four games.

Villa, led by United manager target Unai Emery, are the visitors to Old Trafford this weekend fresh off their 3-0 defeat to Barcelona. Despite that, he has held a positive meeting with Villa chiefs over his future.
Carrick meanwhile, is in need of a Premier League victory to back up the European triumph secured earlier this week. Speaking on the comeback and how the players have trained following that, Carrick revealed: "It's up to us to take it forward; it was a fantastic night as a one-off night.
"It was a good night for us all, but nothing has been achieved yet, and it's one moment we need to use to move forward."
"It's a positive reaction, it's not like all of a sudden we're getting carried away. I know what the players are capable of. We just haven't proved it enough lately. The boys have trained really well, I'm not just saying that for the sake of saying it."
United are only outside the bottom three on goal difference having claimed three points in just one game this season. Three consecutive draws came before back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Bournemouth with United scoring just three goals over that period.
