Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has said he has not spoken to Cole Palmer about his latest omission from the England squad.
On Friday morning, it was announced that Palmer had not been called up by Thomas Tuchel for the Three Lions' Nations League games against Croatia and Spain next week.
This came after England had made medical checks over the attacking midfielder, who was initially selected in the England squad for the autumn international break but dropped out with a minor injury.
It means Palmer has not played for England since the March camp as he was also left out of Tuchel’s World Cup squad in the summer.
Alonso was asked at his press conference on Friday afternoon whether he had spoken to Palmer about the most recent snub and said: “No, we have not spoken about that.
“We are very happy with Cole. He is connecting very well with the other attackers and is helping the team.”
Tuchel has since repeated his belief that the Chelsea star “misses too many opportunities to impress” for his country.
“Everyone is desperate to play for England, and Cole is no exception," The England boss said.
“But, again, what I said last time: he misses too many opportunities to impress. Two-and-a-half weeks was a long time [to miss]. The door is always open, but nothing has changed, and we decided [to go] without him.”

Alonso, meanwhile, also added that he wouldn't tell players to miss the international break.
"No. I never tell," the Spaniard said. "When a player is fully fit, he's selectable. When he's not fit, we try to give the national team reasonable information to decide together.
“Sometimes it's not good for the player."
