Liverpool Scouted Weekly: How Iraola should lineup Reds for Arsenal, Fenerbahce, Crystal Palace

This Liverpool Scouted Weekly gives coach Andoni Iraola a blueprint for rotating his Reds' side across a busy week and details how Dominik Szoboszlai should return to the XI

Andoni Iraola
Andoni Iraola's side is in a stretch of eight games in four weeks

If Liverpool keeps winning in the Cup, the Reds are staring at two games a week through the end of January. Coach Andoni Iraola loves to press high, so he must keep his team fresh to survive a season competing on four fronts.

Iraola's last stretch before the November international break is three games in a week: Premier League fixtures against Arsenal (home) and Crystal Palace (away) are flanked by an away Champions League trip to Fenerbahce. To complete the eight-games-in-four-weeks gauntlet. This week's Liverpool.com Scouted Weekly is a proposal for Iraola's starting XIs for each of the next three fixtures.

To note: Alisson should start all three games in goal. Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz are not fit enough to start against Arsenal, but should be considered the next two in line. Conor Bradley, Geovani Leoni, and Jermie Frimpong remain out with injuries.

Arsenal XI recommendation

Defense: Milos Kerkez, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo. Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch. Front: Bradley Barcola, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo. Striker: Alexander Isak

Jacquet was rested against Chelsea, so he'll partner Van Dijk while Araujo slides back to right-back. Kerkez slides back in at left-back as Kostas Tsimikas returns to the bench.

Mac Allister played just 9 minutes mid-week and slots back in at left-midfield, his preferred side, to accommodate Gravenberch on the right (Nyoni prefers to play on the left). The Dutchman has gone the whole way in four straight Liverpool matches and looks reborn playing next to either Mac Allister or Nyoni.

Andoni Iraola
Trey Nyoni is inching closer to a first Premier League start for Andoni Iraola

Barcola was a second-half sub and will return to the left wing, and Gakpo will move off striker and to the right. Wirtz, now fit, is back in. Isak played 10 minutes against Chelsea but must start against Arsenal. Is this the Reds' best lineup?

Fenerbahce XI recommendation

Defense: Kostas Tsimikas, Joe Gomez, Jeremy Jacquet, Dominik Szoboszlai. Midfielders: Trey Nyoni, Alexis Mac Allister. Front: Victor Munoz, Florian Wirtz, Rio Ngumoha. Striker: Lewis Koumas

Tsimikas in for Kerkez, and both Araujo and Van Dijk get a much-needed breather. Gomez deputized fantastically at right-back on Wednesday; can he do the same alongside Jacquet through the middle?

Andoni Iraola
Andoni Iraola may want to test Dominik Szobzslai in other positions upon his injury return

The short-term right-back option? Szoboszlai will no doubt be upset to not start in midfield, but the Hungarian filled in admirably in defense last year and could thrive in a Trent Alexander-Arnold-like role with acres of space against Fenerbahce. After all, testing this experiment in the Champions League makes more sense than in a league game.

Nyoni gets his third straight Premier League start in midfield as Gravenberch gets his breather. Wirtz is retained, while Ngumoha, a livewire against Chelsea and fresh off a strong UCL showing against Villarreal, gets another taste of Europe. Victor Munoz, now fit, comes in for Barcola.

Isak cannot start three games in a week. Until Hugo Ekitike returns, Iraola should continue to hand Koumas the odd Champions League/Cup start, preferably through the middle (he played on the wing against Chelsea, as Gakpo looked lost up front).

Crystal Palace XI recommendation

Defense: Milos Kerkez, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo. Midfielders: Trey Nyoni, Ryan Gravenberch. Front: Bradley Barcola, Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo. Striker: Alexander Isak

A stronger Liverpool team returns for the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace, the club's last before another international break.

Iraola deploys his first-choice defense and hands Nyoni his first league start, slotting him to the left of Gravenberch. Barcola and Gakpo return on the wings, but Wirtz (started two straight) gives way to Szoboszlai, who finally earns a start in his preferred No. 10 spot.
