Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf and England all-rounder Will Jacks were involved in a heated exchange during the ODI tri-series match in Lahore on Sunday, October 25. The incident required intervention from the on-field umpire and Joe Root before Pakistan completed a dramatic one-wicket victory.

Chasing a target of 242, the Shaheen Afridi-led team slumped to 154/9 before Shadab Khan and Rauf rescued the innings with an unbeaten 89-run partnership. Shadab finished on 113 off 96 balls, while Rauf struck the winning boundary to take Pakistan to 243/9 in 47.1 overs and secure a place in the final.

The confrontation took place on the final ball of the 46th over. Sam Curran bowled a high bouncer to Shadab Khan, who was batting on 99 off 90 deliveries. The Pakistan all-rounder appealed to the square-leg umpire for a wide, but the official did not signal one.

Haris Rauf, who was at the non-striker's end, then became involved in a verbal exchange with Jacks, who was fielding nearby. The Pakistan pacer pointed his bat towards the England all-rounder and walked aggressively towards him, prompting the umpire to step between the players.

Joe Root also intervened and guided Rauf away from the confrontation, preventing the situation from escalating further. However, tensions continued after the match, as the two players were seen exchanging words again during the customary handshakes following Pakistan's victory.

Shadab Khan's Review Helps Pakistan Pull Off Record-Breaking Chase

Earlier, Shadab Khan had survived a major scare during the 45th over when Gus Atkinson trapped him on the pads. The umpire raised his finger, and Shadab initially began walking off as England's players celebrated what appeared to be the final wicket.

Haris Rauf urged his partner to review the decision. Replays showed an inside edge through UltraEdge before the ball struck Shadab's pads, overturning the decision and allowing Pakistan to continue their chase.

Speaking to PCB Digital after the match, Shadab admitted that he had not realised he had edged the delivery. He credited Rauf for insisting on the review and said he was pleased to repay the faith shown in him by the selectors and team management.

The pair put together an unbeaten 89-run tenth-wicket partnership, setting a new record for the highest tenth-wicket stand in a successful men's ODI run-chase. They surpassed the previous mark of 64 runs set by West Indies' Deryck Murray and Andy Roberts against Pakistan in 1975.

Haris Rauf Seals Pakistan's Win as Shadab Khan Hits Maiden Century

Shadab Khan scored an unbeaten 113 off 96 balls with 12 boundaries and five sixes. The Pakistan pacer supported him with seven not out off 19 deliveries, helping Pakistan recover from a position where defeat looked almost certain.

Earlier, England were bowled out for 241 in 46.4 overs, with Ben Duckett scoring 105 off 111 balls. Shaheen Shah Afridi led Pakistan's attack with figures of 4/46, while Sam Curran contributed 42 and Gus Atkinson remained unbeaten on 36.

Pakistan's chase had begun poorly, with Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam scoring 10 runs each and Saim Ayub managing six. Jamie Overton took 3/43 as England reduced the hosts to 154/9, but Shadab and Rauf turned the match around. The defeat was England's third consecutive loss in the tri-series.
