Real Madrid turn the Santiago Bernabeu into a fortress under Jose Mourinho

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Real Madrid have made an impressive start under Jose Mourinho, with their outstanding home form emerging as one of the biggest positives of the 2026/27 season.

The Spanish giants have won all six of their home matches, collecting 18 points from five La Liga fixtures and one Champions League encounter. Their performances suggest that Mourinho is making progress towards restoring the Santiago Bernabeu’s reputation as a fortress.

Real Madrid have recorded convincing victories over Real Sociedad, Malaga, Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla, scoring four goals in each match. These results highlight their attacking strength and ability to dominate opponents in front of their home supporters.

However, Mourinho’s team have also demonstrated resilience in difficult encounters. Their 2-1 victory over Inter and 1-0 win against Villarreal show that they can secure important results even when matches become challenging.

Madrid have reportedly scored 19 goals in six home games, averaging approximately 3.17 goals per match. This represents a significant improvement compared with last season, when they scored only 11 goals in their first six home fixtures under Xabi Alonso, despite winning every game.

The increased attacking output suggests that Mourinho’s side are becoming more effective in converting their dominance into goals.

According to the report, Mourinho is approaching his 95th match in charge at the Bernabeu, where he has recorded 80 victories, giving him an impressive win rate of approximately 85 per cent.

Despite these encouraging statistics, Real Madrid still have areas to improve. Both of their defeats this season have come away from home, against Real Betis and Atletico Madrid.

Mourinho will therefore need to improve the team’s consistency on the road while maintaining their strong home performances.

If Madrid can sustain their current form and address their away-day struggles, they could strengthen their position among Europe’s leading contenders and increase their chances of winning major trophies this season.
