According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Real Madrid youngster Arda Güler is moving closer to securing a regular starting position after delivering a series of impressive performances under manager José Mourinho.

The 21-year-old Turkey international has continued to attract attention with his creativity and ability to influence games from midfield. His progress has accelerated since Mourinho began deploying him in a deeper role, giving him more involvement in the build-up while allowing him to contribute in attacking areas.

Güler's recent performances have reportedly made it increasingly difficult for Mourinho to leave him out of the starting lineup, particularly for important matches. His impact was evident in Real Madrid's recent Champions League encounter with AS Roma, where his introduction helped change the game's momentum as the Spanish side attempted to recover from a two-goal deficit.

He also impressed against Sevilla while operating in a deeper midfield position, with Federico Valverde shifted to right-back. The tactical change helped Madrid maintain better control of possession and allowed Güler to showcase his passing ability and vision in central areas.

The young midfielder maintained his impressive form in the Champions League, scoring in Real Madrid's 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig after receiving an assist from Kylian Mbappe.

Güler's rise could now create a difficult selection decision for Mourinho, with several established midfielders competing for places. Jude Bellingham, Bernardo Silva and Valverde are among the players battling for positions, but Güler offers a different set of qualities through his creativity, close control and ability to pick out passes in tight spaces.

His growing influence comes at an important moment for Real Madrid, who are preparing for Sunday's El Clasico against Barcelona.

The encounter could represent one of Güler's biggest challenges yet, as Barcelona's ability to dominate possession and control the midfield will require the young midfielder to demonstrate composure and discipline.

A strong performance against Barcelona would further strengthen his case for a regular starting role and increase his importance within Mourinho's plans.

For now, the Turkish youngster appears to be turning his potential into consistent performances, leaving Mourinho with an increasingly difficult decision over whether to make him a central figure in Real Madrid's midfield.
