Arsenal Star Reveals He Was ‘Already Celebrating’ Before Neuer’s Incredible Save

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Bruno Guimaraes revealed that he had already begun celebrating before Manuel Neuer produced an outstanding save to deny his header during Arsenal’s 2-2 Champions League draw against Bayern Munich.

The midfielder praised the German goalkeeper after the match, admitting that he was amazed by how Neuer managed to prevent him from scoring at the Allianz Arena.

Speaking after the final whistle, Guimaraes described the intervention as exceptional and disclosed that he approached Neuer after the game to ask how he had stopped his effort. The Brazilian also acknowledged the goalkeeper’s legendary reputation in football.

"Unbelievable save. I was already celebrating. When the game finished I came to him and said: how did you save that?" Guimaraes said.

The save was one of the standout moments in an entertaining contest between the two European giants. Arsenal initially took the lead through Eberechi Eze before Bayern fought back to equalise. Harry Kane then converted a second-half penalty to put the German champions ahead.

However, Arsenal showed their resilience by securing a late equaliser through Declan Rice in the 82nd minute. His goal ensured the visitors left Munich with a valuable point after a fiercely contested encounter.

Neuer played a crucial role for Bayern throughout the match, producing an impressive reaction save to keep out Guimaraes’ second-half header and prevent Arsenal from taking another lead. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya also made several important interventions, including a save against Dayot Upamecano’s header.

Guimaraes joined Arsenal from Newcastle United during the summer in a £75 million transfer. The midfielder has already made his mark at his new club, scoring twice in the Premier League, including a late winner on his home debut against Leeds United.

His performance against Bayern offered another demonstration of his attacking ability. Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Champions League league phase after three matches, with the draw in Munich keeping their European campaign on track.

Guimaraes’ reaction to Neuer’s remarkable save underlined how close Arsenal came to scoring another important goal in the encounter.
