According to a report by Chelsea Chronicle on Friday, October 23, 2026, Moises Caicedo is expected to be a key threat to Tottenham Hotspur when Chelsea host their London rivals at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Ecuadorian midfielder has won all six of his previous meetings against Spurs since joining the Blues, making him a player the visitors will need to contain.
Caicedo’s return from injury has strengthened Chelsea’s midfield options and given manager Xabi Alonso a timely boost ahead of the Premier League derby. His comeback has also coincided with improved defensive displays, with Chelsea conceding just two goals in the two matches he has started. The Blues also ended their nine-month wait for a clean sheet with a shutout against Everton last weekend.
Since arriving from Brighton in 2023, Caicedo has maintained a perfect record against Tottenham. One of his notable victories came during the 2023/24 season, when Chelsea defeated Spurs 4-1 away from home. Although Caicedo had a goal ruled out, his teammates recovered from an early setback to secure a convincing win, helped by Tottenham receiving two red cards.
The midfielder also played an important role in Chelsea’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Spurs during the 2024/25 campaign. Despite being deployed at right-back rather than his usual midfield position, Caicedo demonstrated his defensive strength, technical quality and ability to adapt to different tactical demands.
According to Sofascore, he won both tackles he attempted, made two interceptions and completed one clearance during the match. He also won five ground duels and two aerial challenges, while preventing opponents from dribbling past him.
Caicedo was equally effective in possession, completing 44 of his 49 passes for a 90 per cent success rate. He also successfully completed his attempted cross and dribble, highlighting his ability to support Chelsea’s attacking moves while remaining defensively reliable.
Chelsea will hope the midfielder maintains that level of performance when they welcome Tottenham on Saturday. The Blues have shown encouraging signs in recent weeks, while Spurs arrive after recording a 3-1 victory over Coventry City on Monday.
Tottenham will need to find a way to restrict Caicedo’s influence if they are to improve their chances of securing a positive result. His defensive awareness, passing ability and tactical versatility could prove decisive in another fiercely contested London derby.
