Real Madrid Will Have to Pay €2.5 Million to RB Leipzig if Yan Diomande Wins The Ballon d’Or

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Friday, October 30, 2026, Real Madrid could be required to pay RB Leipzig an additional €2.5 million if summer signing Yan Diomande eventually wins the Ballon d’Or while playing for the Spanish club.

The 19 year old Ivorian winger has become an important option in Real Madrid’s attack, taking advantage of Vinicius Junior’s four match suspension to establish himself on the left flank.

Madrid made a substantial financial commitment to sign Diomande from Leipzig during the summer transfer window, reflecting their belief in his potential and long-term development.

According to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the transfer agreement includes a special clause requiring Real Madrid to pay Leipzig approximately €2.5 million if the youngster wins football’s most prestigious individual award.

The clause was reportedly negotiated with the involvement of Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schafer, ensuring that the German club could receive additional financial benefits if Diomande achieves major individual success after leaving.

The winger joined Real Madrid for an initial fee believed to be around €125 million, with performance related bonuses potentially increasing the overall package to approximately €140 million.

The Ballon d’Or condition highlights the high expectations surrounding Diomande and the confidence Leipzig had in his ability when agreeing to his departure.

His performances in Germany provided a strong foundation for that reputation. During his previous campaign with Leipzig, he recorded 13 goals and ten assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

He has continued to make an impression in Spain, registering three goals and four assists in 13 appearances while also showing impressive defensive commitment under manager Jose Mourinho.

Diomande particularly caught attention during El Clasico against Barcelona, where he repeatedly troubled Joao Cancelo and demonstrated his ability to compete against top level opponents.

His technical quality has also been evident during training, with one recent display of skill attracting considerable attention among supporters.

Although the additional €2.5 million would represent another expense for Real Madrid, the club would hardly consider it a problem if Diomande eventually reaches Ballon d’Or winning standards. His immediate challenge, however, will be maintaining his progress, particularly when Vinicius returns from suspension and competition for places increases.
