Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior has reportedly increased his training workload as he attempts to rediscover his best form and secure a regular place in manager Jose Mourinho’s starting lineup. The Brazilian is said to be completing two training sessions each day as he works to improve his performances and regain the confidence of the coaching staff.
According to Madrid Universal on Friday, October 30, 2026, the 26-year-old has stepped up his preparations in response to growing competition for attacking positions at the Santiago Bernabéu. He is reportedly following a specialised, science-based programme intended to improve his physical condition and help him return to the level that previously made him one of the club’s most influential players.
Real Madrid have recorded encouraging results and produced stronger attacking displays in their last three matches. However, the team’s progress during Vinicius’ absence has raised questions about how his return could affect the current attacking arrangement.
Other members of the squad have also taken advantage of their opportunities, making competition for places increasingly demanding. Vinicius is therefore aware that his previous status within the team does not guarantee an automatic return to the starting eleven.
Nevertheless, the Brazilian is reportedly committed to regaining his position. His additional training sessions are understood to be part of an effort to improve his consistency, demonstrate his determination and convince Mourinho that he remains an important option for the team.
His immediate opportunities could come in the Champions League. Although he is serving a four-match suspension in La Liga, he remains eligible for European fixtures, with two domestic matches still to be completed before he can return to league action.
Vinicius featured in Real Madrid’s previous Champions League meeting with RB Leipzig but failed to make a substantial impression. In contrast, young winger Yan Diomande attracted attention after entering the match as a substitute and delivering an encouraging performance during his brief ten-minute appearance.
Diomande’s recent displays have strengthened his position in the competition for attacking opportunities and reportedly impressed Mourinho. His progress means Vinicius will need to produce convincing performances if he hopes to reclaim his preferred role.
The upcoming Champions League encounter against AEK Athens could consequently represent an important opportunity for the Brazilian to demonstrate his quality. A strong display would help strengthen his case for regular selection, while another underwhelming performance could make his route back into the starting lineup more difficult.
For now, Vinicius appears determined to respond through hard work and improved performances as he attempts to re-establish himself as a key figure in Mourinho’s plans.
