Pedro Neto has earned recognition for his improved displays under Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso after securing a place in the Premier League Team of the Month for October alongside former Blues striker Nicolas Jackson. According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, both players were included in Opta Analyst's monthly selection, which uses player ratings provided by FotMob.
Neto enjoyed an encouraging October, contributing two goals and one assist across four Premier League appearances. His performances helped Chelsea secure three victories from their four league fixtures during the month, with wins against Bournemouth, Everton and Manchester United. Their only defeat came against Tottenham.
The Portuguese international's inclusion reflects the progress he has made since Alonso took charge. His improved attacking contribution has also been supported by a noticeable increase in his scoring efficiency, making him an increasingly valuable option within the Chelsea squad.
Jackson was also rewarded for his productive start at Aston Villa. The Senegalese forward has scored five goals in eight Premier League appearances, including three strikes across his most recent two matches. His performances have helped establish him as an important attacking figure for his new club.
Jackson's current league tally is particularly notable because it matches the number of Premier League goals João Pedro has scored for Chelsea this season. Pedro's absence through injury has therefore been a significant setback for Alonso, who has had to consider alternative attacking arrangements while the Brazilian recovers.
In response, the Chelsea manager has experimented with different combinations, including using Neto and Morgan Rogers in advanced positions. However, the Portuguese winger has appeared more comfortable and effective when deployed in the right wing-back role, where he can contribute to attacks while also providing width.
Neto's goal record also highlights his improvement compared with the previous campaign. He has already scored three times this season, having managed five goals across 34 appearances last term. FotMob statistics show that his goals-per-90-minute figure has increased from 0.17 to 0.40, indicating that he is finding the net more frequently relative to his playing time.
Despite his recent progress, Neto could face greater competition for a regular starting position once Chelsea's injured players return. João Pedro's recovery would give Alonso another established attacking option, while Estevão Willian has strengthened his own case for regular selection after producing an impressive performance against Manchester United.
The situation could create a selection challenge for the Chelsea manager, particularly if he wants to include Estevão, Pedro, Rogers and Cole Palmer in his preferred attacking setup. Finding space for all four could become difficult, potentially leaving Neto competing for a place rather than enjoying an automatic starting role.
For now, his inclusion in the October Team of the Month represents recognition of his recent improvement and growing influence. However, maintaining that form will be important as competition for places intensifies. With several attacking players expected to return or push for greater involvement, Neto will need to continue delivering strong performances to remain an important part of Alonso's plans.
