According to a report by Metro on Friday, October 23, 2026, former England striker Alan Shearer has tipped Chelsea to defeat Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge, while backing Arsenal and Manchester City to secure victories in their respective Premier League fixtures this weekend.
Shearer shared his predictions for the latest round of matches, assessing the chances of several clubs battling for important points at both ends of the league table.
The former Newcastle United striker believes Chelsea's recent progress under Xabi Alonso could help them overcome Tottenham, with Moises Caicedo playing an important role in the team's improved performances.
Shearer singled out the Ecuadorian midfielder for praise, highlighting his influence in midfield, particularly alongside Jordan Henderson.
"I was impressed with Caicedo. Chelsea are looking a more well-rounded team and I think Caicedo’s played a huge part in that, he’s made the difference," Shearer said.
Although he acknowledged Tottenham's recent positive results, Shearer was not entirely convinced by their overall performances. He welcomed the returns of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski but still expects Chelsea to take advantage of playing at home.
"Spurs did all right. Great to see Maddison back and scoring a goal. Kulusevski came back in for the last few minutes, got a good reception. I still didn’t think they played great, despite getting a good result. So, I’m going to go Chelsea home win."
For Arsenal's clash with Everton, Shearer expects the visitors to focus on defending and making life difficult for Mikel Arteta's side. However, he believes the Gunners have enough attacking quality to break through and claim all three points.
Arsenal could face concerns over Bukayo Saka's availability after the winger appeared to suffer a thigh injury, but Shearer still favours the north London side to win.
The former striker has also predicted a victory for Manchester City against Aston Villa. While recognising the work Unai Emery has done at Villa, he believes Pep Guardiola's team possess the quality needed to secure the result.
Shearer expects Liverpool and Brighton to share the points, pointing to Brighton's attacking threat and Liverpool's defensive concerns as reasons why the visitors could avoid defeat.
He also predicts a draw between Manchester United and Bournemouth, a result that could increase the pressure on Michael Carrick as he attempts to turn around United's disappointing run of form.
In the other fixtures, Shearer has backed Newcastle United to beat Crystal Palace, Brentford to defeat Hull City and Leeds United to overcome Sunderland.
He expects Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest to play out a draw, with Coventry City and Fulham also predicted to share the points.
