Chelsea Supporters Demand Mamadou Sarr Sale After Defender’s Criticism Of Club

According to a report by Football London on Thursday, November 5, 2026, Chelsea supporters have urged Mamadou Sarr to leave Stamford Bridge after the defender opened up about his difficult experience at the club, with several fans questioning whether he has what it takes to succeed in west London.

The £12.5 million signing has attracted criticism from sections of the Blues fanbase following his comments about the treatment he received during his time at Chelsea.

Sarr joined the London club in the summer of 2025 on an eight-year contract but has struggled to secure a regular place in the first team.

The 22-year-old is currently spending the season on loan at Spanish side Real Sociedad after returning from an earlier loan spell at Strasbourg.

Although he initially struggled to secure playing time in Spain, he has recently started featuring more regularly. However, he was substituted at half-time during Sociedad's Europa League clash with Lyon on Thursday.

Reflecting on his difficult spell at Chelsea, Sarr discussed the criticism he received after his performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their 8-2 Champions League defeat.

“I started to play, had some good matches, [but] PSG; that error came quickly. [Then] no news. No sign of life. The first week was horrible regarding the criticism. Rosenior, who brought me, was quickly ejected.”

His comments have sparked negative reactions among some Chelsea supporters, with several arguing that the defender should accept responsibility for his performances rather than publicly criticise his experience at Stamford Bridge.

One supporter wrote: “You were given the chance to play, and you fumbled”.

Another commented: “Not good enough; starts to blame everyone.”

Other fans also questioned his decision to speak publicly about his frustrations while still being under contract with Chelsea.

However, his statistics across his three clubs suggest that regular playing time has helped him improve his confidence and performances.

At Real Sociedad, Sarr has averaged 1.8 tackles and 3.81 duels won per match, compared with 1.03 tackles and 3.52 duels won during his time at Strasbourg.

His duel success rate has also increased to 65.5 per cent in Spain, having recorded just 33.3 per cent during his Chelsea appearances.

Sarr remains contracted to Chelsea until 2033, but his long-term future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain. With the club continuing to assess its defensive options, his performances in Spain could determine whether he receives another opportunity in west London or is sold permanently.
