According to a report by Football London on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Estevao Willian shared a special moment with Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso during the Blues’ 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United on Saturday.
The Brazilian winger ran towards the touchline and embraced Alonso after believing he had scored Chelsea’s third goal of the afternoon.
Estevao was making his first Premier League start of the season after struggling to secure regular playing time under the Spanish manager.
Although neither of his two efforts counted as an official goal, the 19-year-old produced an impressive performance and twice found the back of the net, only for both goals to be ruled out.
His second disallowed effort led to a memorable exchange with Alonso, as the youngster immediately ran towards his manager to celebrate before sharing an embrace with him.
The moment appeared to highlight the positive relationship between the pair, despite questions surrounding Estevao’s limited involvement in previous matches.
However, Alonso’s decision to leave the winger out of the starting lineup had reportedly been influenced by tactical considerations and competition for attacking positions, with Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro also available.
Joao Pedro’s latest injury absence opened the door for Estevao to make his first Premier League start of the campaign.
Alonso adjusted his attacking setup by deploying Pedro Neto as the central striker, allowing the Brazilian teenager to operate on the right wing.
Estevao made the most of the opportunity, recording three key passes and completing two accurate crosses, according to Sofascore.
His display further demonstrated the attacking qualities he can bring to Chelsea, particularly his ability to create chances and stretch opposition defences.
The victory over Manchester United could prove significant for Estevao as he continues to fight for a regular place in Alonso’s plans.
Chelsea supporters will now hope the teenager keeps his place when the Blues face Sunderland, although his involvement will ultimately depend on the manager’s selection decisions.
