Joao Pedro confirms Chelsea stance amid Arsenal transfer interest

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Monday, October 26, 2026, Chelsea striker João Pedro has revealed that he is happy at Stamford Bridge despite reported interest from Arsenal and Barcelona.

The 25-year-old Brazilian attracted attention from both clubs during the summer transfer window as they sought to strengthen their attacking options. However, Chelsea reportedly turned down their approaches before reaching an agreement with the forward on a contract extension in August.

Arsenal viewed João Pedro as a possible addition to Mikel Arteta’s attacking lineup, while Barcelona considered signing him as a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski. Neither club managed to convince Chelsea to sell the Brazilian, and his recent comments suggest that he is content with his current situation in London.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN, João Pedro credited Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso for playing an important role in his development and performances this season.

“At Chelsea I feel very comfortable,” he said, highlighting the confidence and support he has received from the manager.

The Brazilian enjoyed an impressive first season at Chelsea, scoring 20 goals in 50 appearances. He has continued his strong form into the 2026/27 campaign, registering five goals in seven appearances, according to FootballTransfers.

Since Enzo Maresca’s departure, João Pedro has established himself as Chelsea’s primary centre-forward. His recent performances indicate that he is comfortable with the responsibility and is thriving under Alonso’s management.

The striker also praised his teammates for helping him settle into life at Stamford Bridge. He specifically acknowledged Cole Palmer’s role in making him feel welcome at the club.

João Pedro added that the positive atmosphere within the dressing room had helped him adapt quickly. According to the forward, the friendships he has built with his teammates have strengthened his confidence and contributed to his performances on the pitch.

His comments could come as a setback for Arsenal, who reportedly consider him a valuable option for improving their attack. Chelsea’s unwillingness to sell, combined with the player’s apparent satisfaction at the club, could make it difficult for Arteta’s side to pursue a deal.

Barcelona could also face obstacles in their attempt to sign the Brazilian. Their interest highlights João Pedro’s growing reputation among Europe’s leading attacking talents, particularly because of his goalscoring ability and effectiveness when combining with teammates in the final third.
