According to a report by London Evening Standard on Monday, October 26, 2026, Harry Kane and Alexia Putellas were among the biggest winners at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, while Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka received the Socrates Award in recognition of his humanitarian efforts.
Kane secured his first Ballon d’Or after finishing ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal in the race for football’s prestigious individual honour. His triumph also made him the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen achieved the feat in 2001.
The Bayern Munich and England striker enjoyed an exceptional campaign last season, scoring 73 goals across all competitions for club and country to claim his maiden Ballon d’Or title.
Putellas won the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time in her career. The midfielder, who now represents London City Lionesses, enjoyed an impressive season with Barcelona before leaving the Spanish club. She registered 26 goals and 15 assists in 53 appearances while helping the team secure five trophies.
Kane also shared the Gerd Muller Trophy with Mexican striker Charlyn Corral after both players recorded prolific goalscoring campaigns. Barcelona were named Women’s Club of the Year following their outstanding performances throughout the season.
Paris Saint-Germain claimed the Men’s Club of the Year award. However, most of the French club’s players were absent from the ceremony because their Ligue 1 fixture against Lyon had been rescheduled for the same evening.
Barcelona goalkeeper Cata Coll won the Women’s Yashin Trophy in recognition of her performances between the posts. Spain international Unai Simon collected the men’s award after helping his country win the World Cup.
Yamal retained his Kopa Trophy, becoming the first player to win the award three consecutive times. His Barcelona teammate Vicky Lopez claimed the women’s Kopa Trophy.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente and Barcelona women’s manager Pere Romeu were named Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year, respectively.
Meanwhile, Saka received the Socrates Award for his continued humanitarian work outside football, highlighting his contributions to charitable causes beyond his achievements on the pitch.
