Black Maidens And Brazil Locked At 2–2 In Thrilling U-17 Women’s World Cup Clash

According to a report by UTV Ghana on Thursday October 22, 2026, Ghana’s Black Maidens delivered an exciting performance against Brazil, with the two sides heading into half-time level at 2–2 in their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup encounter.

The first-half scoreline reflected an entertaining contest between the young Ghanaian side and their Brazilian counterparts, as both teams found the back of the net twice in a match that promised plenty of action.

For the Black Maidens, the encounter presented an opportunity to demonstrate their quality on the global stage and compete against one of the most recognised footballing nations in women’s football.

The team entered the contest seeking to make an impression at the tournament and strengthen Ghana’s reputation in youth women’s football.

The match began with Brazil taking the initiative, putting Ghana under early pressure. However, the Black Maidens gradually settled into the game and responded with determination, showing their willingness to challenge their opponents rather than allow the South Americans to dominate proceedings.

Ghana’s attacking efforts paid off in the 31st minute when Rafia Osman scored the equaliser. Four minutes later, Gloria Ameaa found the net to put the Black Maidens ahead 2–1, giving the Ghanaian side renewed confidence.

Brazil, however, refused to go into the break trailing. Kaillany Rafinah scored in the 44th minute to bring her team level at 2–2, setting up an intriguing second half.

The equaliser meant both teams had to return for the second half with the match finely balanced, leaving the Black Maidens with an opportunity to push for a positive result against their highly rated opponents.

The encounter was particularly important for Ghana following their 3–0 defeat to Norway in their opening Group C match.

A strong showing against Brazil offered the team an opportunity to respond to that setback and improve their position in the group.

As the tournament progresses, the Black Maidens will be hoping to build on their attacking performance and turn their determination into valuable points in their remaining group fixtures.

The match was played as part of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Update: The match eventually ended in a thrilling 3–3 draw, with substitute Priscilla Mensah scoring Ghana’s late equaliser in the 85th minute.

The result earned the Black Maidens their first point of the tournament ahead of their final group match against Canada.
