Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has highlighted the transportation challenges facing the country's national football teams, revealing that all 19 national teams have access to only one bus, which was purchased in 2008 and has now broken down.
According to Okraku, the situation reflects some of the infrastructure and logistical difficulties affecting the development of football in Ghana. He believes the lack of adequate transportation facilities is among the factors that have prevented the country from achieving greater success at the international level.
Speaking about the challenges confronting the national teams, the GFA president explained that the Black Stars, Black Queens and the other national sides are expected to operate with extremely limited transportation resources.
The revelation has raised questions about the level of logistical support available to Ghana's national football teams, particularly as they prepare for international competitions and other football assignments.
Ghana operates several national teams across different categories, including men's and women's senior teams, youth teams and other development sides. These teams require reliable transportation to support training activities, preparation camps, friendly matches and competitive engagements.
The situation is particularly concerning given the expectations placed on Ghana's national teams to represent the country and compete successfully against other footballing nations.
Okraku's comments have also brought renewed attention to the need for improved investment in football administration, infrastructure and other essential resources.
While the performance of national teams is influenced by several factors, including coaching, player development and management, adequate logistical support remains an important part of preparing athletes for international competition.
His disclosure has therefore renewed discussions about the resources available to Ghana football and whether the necessary facilities are being provided to help the national teams achieve their ambitions.
