Chelsea have two reasons to be excited after Strasbourg’s 5-1 demolition as loanee and target shine

According to a report by Chelsea Chronicles on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Chelsea have received two encouraging developments following Strasbourg's impressive 5-1 victory over Auxerre, with loanee Dario Essugo and reported transfer target Gessime Yassine delivering outstanding performances.

Essugo opened the scoring in the 41st minute, while Yassine produced an impressive attacking display that could further strengthen Chelsea's interest in signing him.

The Blues have several reasons to keep a close eye on Strasbourg, with Filip Jorgensen, Essugo and Genesis Antwi currently playing for the French club on loan.

Former Chelsea youngsters Deivid Washington and Omari Kellyman also completed permanent moves to Strasbourg during the summer transfer window.

However, Sunday's result provided particular encouragement for Chelsea, both in terms of Essugo's development and their reported interest in Yassine.

Essugo broke the deadlock with a strike from the edge of the penalty area before delivering an impressive performance in midfield.

The 21-year-old also recorded five tackles and one interception, demonstrating his contribution beyond scoring the opening goal.

The midfielder has now registered two goals and one assist in seven Ligue 1 appearances this season, accumulating 381 minutes.

Yassine, however, was the standout performer against Auxerre. The Moroccan winger provided an assist for Martial Godo before winning a penalty following an impressive individual run.

He went on to score twice, first with a left-footed finish inside the penalty area before adding a close-range header.

The 20-year-old also contributed to Auxerre's disciplinary problems, as midfielder Lamfia Dioubate was sent off for a violent challenge after Yassine beat him with a nutmeg.

Yassine now has four goals and three assists in nine Ligue 1 appearances this season, taking his total goal contributions to seven.

Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the youngster ahead of a possible transfer next summer.

Although the Blues already have several left-footed attacking options, including Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto, Geovany Quenda and Cole Palmer, Yassine's recent performances could make him an attractive option.

His continued progress, alongside Essugo's development, represents two positive developments for Chelsea as they maintain a close watch on Strasbourg.
