Barcelona Could Face Disciplinary Action After Alleged Assault on Real Madrid Star During El Clasico

According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Barcelona could face disciplinary action following an alleged incident involving Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga during Sunday’s El Clasico encounter.

The Catalan club have endured a difficult week after suffering defeats to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Real Madrid in La Liga. Their latest loss has also raised concerns about the team’s recent performances.

According to reports from The Athletic, La Liga intends to refer the alleged assault on Camavinga to the disciplinary committee of the Spanish Football Federation for further investigation.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Kylian Mbappe scored the winning goal for Real Madrid, with Camavinga providing the assist. During the celebrations near Barcelona supporters, a spectator was seen swinging a flagpole towards the French midfielder.

Camavinga’s teammates quickly intervened and escorted him away from the stands to prevent the situation from escalating. Match referee Juan Martinez Munuera also documented details of the disturbances in his official report.

A water bottle and a Coca-Cola can were also thrown from the crowd, although neither object reportedly struck the Madrid player. The incident prompted a stadium announcement and led to a brief interruption lasting several minutes.

La Liga is now expected to submit the matter to the relevant disciplinary authorities, who will examine available footage and evidence before determining whether sanctions are necessary.

For Barcelona, the development represents another unwanted distraction as the club deals with disappointing results, injury concerns and increasing pressure during a challenging period of the season.

The defeat also ended Barcelona’s impressive nine-match winning start in La Liga. Real Madrid have capitalised on the result, reducing the gap between the two sides at the top of the table to just three points.

Although emotions frequently run high during El Clasico encounters, this does not justify aggressive behaviour towards players. However, the actions of a few spectators should not be used to judge Barcelona’s entire fanbase.

The disciplinary investigation will establish whether the incident warrants punishment for the club. Barcelona will hope any potential sanctions remain limited as they seek to move beyond the controversy and focus on their upcoming fixtures.
