According to a report by Football London on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Arsenal youngster Max Dowman suffered a brief injury scare during the warm-up before the Gunners’ Champions League clash with Bayern Munich after teammate Ben White accidentally stepped on his foot.
The 16-year-old midfielder appeared uncomfortable during the incident at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night, despite the light-hearted exchange that followed between the two Arsenal players.
White was protecting the ball during a warm-up drill when Dowman attempted to dispossess the defender. However, after the teenager grabbed White’s arm to pull him away, the defender stepped backwards and unintentionally stood on his teammate’s foot.
White responded with a grin and a shrug, while Dowman briefly hopped around before laughing off the incident.
The youngster was able to move normally when the warm-up continued, easing immediate concerns about a potentially serious injury. However, he appeared to exercise some caution in his movements afterward.
Neither Dowman nor White featured in Arsenal’s Champions League encounter against the German champions, as both players remained on the bench.
Meanwhile, concerns over Bukayo Saka’s fitness overshadowed Arsenal’s result after the England international was forced off within the opening 10 minutes with a suspected quad injury. Eberechi Eze replaced the winger.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta addressed the concerns surrounding Saka’s condition during an interview with TNT Sports after the match, admitting that the club would need to wait for further assessments.
"We have to wait and see," Arteta said, adding that it was never positive news when a player had to leave the pitch after experiencing sharp pain.
The Spaniard provided further details during his post-match press conference, explaining that Saka’s demanding style of play required a high level of intensity.
Arteta acknowledged that injuries could occur despite the quality, strength and concentration required at the highest level, stressing that the club would have to wait before determining the extent of the problem.
Arsenal eventually fought back to secure a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich after losing their first two Champions League matches in succession.
