Two Chelsea Stars Named in WhoScored Team of the Week After Impressive Performances

According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Chelsea players Emiliano Martínez and Neto have been included in WhoScored’s Team of the Week following their impressive displays in the Blues’ 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton.

Both players earned recognition for their contributions to the important win, with Martínez helping Chelsea maintain their defensive solidity before being forced off with an injury, while Neto emerged as the attacking hero by scoring both goals.

Martínez, the Argentine goalkeeper, has established himself as a respected figure in European football through his impressive shot-stopping ability, confidence and experience. His performance against Everton played a part in Chelsea’s efforts to preserve their advantage and secure a clean sheet.

However, the goalkeeper’s afternoon ended on a worrying note after he sustained a serious head injury in a collision with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The incident required an extended period of treatment before Martínez was stretchered off the pitch and taken to hospital for further medical assessment.

His departure forced Chelsea to make a change in goal as they attempted to protect their lead. Substitute goalkeeper Mike Penders replaced him and helped the team see out the remaining minutes without conceding.

Despite the unfortunate injury, Martínez’s contribution before leaving the field was recognised through his inclusion in WhoScored’s Team of the Week, highlighting his role in Chelsea’s defensive performance.

Meanwhile, Neto delivered an outstanding display in attack, scoring twice to secure all three points for Chelsea. The Portuguese winger demonstrated his ability to influence important matches with his movement, pace and clinical finishing.

His opening goal came shortly after half-time, giving Chelsea a valuable advantage and strengthening their control of the contest. He then scored again in the closing stages to confirm the victory and reward his team’s attacking efforts.

Neto’s performance caused considerable problems for Everton’s defence, as his confidence on the ball and ability to exploit spaces created opportunities for Chelsea. His finishing also proved decisive in ensuring that the Blues converted their chances into goals.

The victory represented an important result for Chelsea as they continued their Premier League campaign. Their defensive organisation and attacking efficiency helped them secure three points without conceding.

The inclusion of Martínez and Neto in WhoScored’s Team of the Week reflects their individual contributions to the result. While Martínez made important interventions before his injury, Neto delivered the goals that ultimately decided the encounter.

Chelsea will be hoping that Neto can maintain his impressive form in their upcoming fixtures. At the same time, Martínez’s recovery will remain a major concern as the club awaits further assessments of his condition.

Although the victory provided plenty of encouragement for the Blues, the injury suffered by Martínez overshadowed part of an otherwise successful performance.
