Nigeria’s Edo Queens and Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies will meet in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday to determine the WAFU B representative at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League following a ruling on their disputed regional final.
The rematch follows last month’s WAFU B final in Burkina Faso, where Edo Queens defeated Ampem Darkoa 4-1 on penalties after regulation time ended 2-2.
However, the Ghanaian champions protested the result, arguing that competition rules required 30 minutes of extra time before a penalty shootout. They maintained that the match officials had proceeded directly to penalties without completing the additional period.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) ruled in favour of Ampem Darkoa and ordered the remaining 30 minutes to be played at a neutral venue.
Edo Queens challenged the decision, but CAF’s Disciplinary and Appeals Board upheld the Ghanaian side’s protest, paving the way for Thursday’s decisive encounter.
The Nigerian club departed for Egypt on Monday to prepare for the fixture.
The winner will join seven other clubs in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, including defending champions AS FAR of Morocco, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and FC Masar of Egypt.
The tournament’s group stage will run from November 1 to 8, followed by the semi-finals on November 11. The third-place match is scheduled for November 14, with the final set for November 15.
The African champions will also earn a place in the second round of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in December, where they are scheduled to face North Korean side Naegohyang.
