FC AshantiGold 04 midfielder Justice Blay has set his sights on helping his outfit defeat former club Asante Kotoko in the upcoming Ghana Premier League encounter.
The Obuasi-based outfit will host the Porcupine Warriors at the Len Clay Stadium in matchday eight of the Ghanaian top flight, with both teams seeking the maximum points at stake.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Blay stressed that he has no personal issues with the Porcupine Warriors, insisting that his main focus is on helping his current side secure victory against his former club.
“Football is a game, and we are preparing very well for it. I have no personal issues with Kotoko.
“My responsibility is to give my best and help my team secure victory. I am very happy at Ashanti Gold 04 and enjoying my life here,” he said.
After seven matches in the campaign, Asante Kotoko sit eighth on the league table with 11 points, while AshantiGold 04 occupy 10th position with 10 points.
Blay parted ways with Kotoko in June last year, bringing an end to a memorable spell marked by leadership and commitment.
His journey with the Kumasi-based giants began during the 2019/2020 season, when he joined the club on loan from Medeama SC.
Blay quickly won over the Kotoko faithful, scoring two goals in 12 appearances while delivering commanding performances in midfield. His impact convinced the club to secure his services permanently in 2021.
During his time at Kotoko, Blay made 56 league appearances, frequently wore the captain’s armband and played a key role in the club’s domestic league and cup campaigns.
