Arsenal face an anxious wait over Bukayo Saka’s fitness after the winger suffered a quad injury during their 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
The 25-year-old lasted just 10 minutes before appearing to hurt himself while attempting a routine pass. With no opponent close to him, Saka went down in discomfort and immediately signalled that he could not continue.
Speaking after the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged concerns within the club’s medical team, saying the injury “doesn’t look good at all”.
“A player who has to come off with a really sharp pain is never good news,” Arteta said.
The extent of the injury remains unclear, leaving Saka’s availability for Arsenal’s Premier League meeting with Everton this weekend in doubt.
Arsenal nevertheless responded well to the early disruption. Eberechi Eze, introduced in Saka’s place, opened the scoring 15 minutes after coming on.
Bayern turned the contest around through Alphonso Davies and a Harry Kane penalty, putting the hosts ahead and leaving Arsenal chasing the game.
Declan Rice eventually earned the visitors a point with an 82nd-minute equaliser, ensuring Arsenal left Munich with a draw despite the early injury setback.
