Spintex Knights swingman James Amotoe has attributed the team’s unbeaten run in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) preliminary phase to their improved form.

Ghana’s representative in the continental basketball tournament qualified for the Elite 16 after winning all three games to top Group B in the Division West phase.

The Knights beat Benin’s Energie Basketball Club 92-71 and Liberia’s NPA Pythons 88-66 as part of their perfect run.

Amotoe played a key role in the team’s success, averaging 17.3 points and 11 assists across the three games. He also finished as the tournament’s leading assist provider in the group phase.

“Our goal coming to Tripoli was to make it to the Elite 16, no matter the obstacles. We needed to win all games. This was our mindset.”

“How did the Knights reach such an impressive qualification campaign? “We learned from our losses” Amotoe said to FIBA.

Knights qualified to the Elite 16 stage last year but missed out on progressing beyond the round. This year’s Elite 16 competition runs from November 10 to November 15 in Cote D’Ivoire.
