Robbie Savage thought victory was “there for the taking” as Peterborough’s last-gasp equaliser ensured they returned from Bromley with just a point from a 1-1 draw.
A solitary first-half goal from Michael Cheek, his first of the season, looked enough to seal the win for Bromley but Vernon Masara’s last-gasp strike rescued a share of the spoils.
Boss Savage said: “I’m glad we leave with the point because of the nature of the point and how we got it, but I felt given the domination we had with the ball there were three points there for us today.
“I felt given the number of final-third entries we had today we should have tested their keeper more. We did everything right in terms of isolating the Bromley players but we rushed our decision-making.
“The lads worked tirelessly and kept going. Even when I changed it to a 4-4-2 and put Owura at right-back they went for it and got the goal they deserved. It’s one defeat in four but with the greatest of respect for Bromley, given how much we dominated with the ball I felt all three points were there for the taking.”
The Ravens took the lead inside 10 minutes with Cheek getting among the goals for the first time in Sky Bet League One. The frontman latched on to a loose ball in the penalty area before sweeping home.
Will Hondermarck nearly made it two moments later when his driving run drew a save from Alex Bass at his near post.
Harry Leonard should have drawn Peterborough level on the half-hour mark but the frontman placed his free header wide with only Grant Smith to beat.
Six minutes before the interval, Ethan Williams’ curling effort forced Smith into a fine save low at his right-hand post.
Despite controlling possession in the second half, the Posh failed to create clear-cut opportunities.
Kamarl Grant’s header 15 minutes from time went close to doubling Bromley’s lead but Bass was on hand to deny him.
Substitute Nicke Kabamba missed a golden opportunity two minutes from time as Lucca Mendonca denied him with a last-gasp challenge and that proved critical when Masara rounded Smith deep into stoppage time to grab a point.
Interim Bromley manager Byron Webster said: “Football’s a cruel game, the work rate from my players was immense and very impressive. We had chances but unfortunately we got sucker-punched at the end.
He added: “Ultimately we have another game on Tuesday. I’m a big believer in setting the intensity and tempo and I thought we did that to a T today, it helps to demoralise the opposition and we were good at that.
“Due to the conditions it felt like a game of two halves but we managed it generally well but we move on now.
“Michael Cheek went back to being Cheeky, I asked him to be more selfish in the box and he did that exactly how I wanted.”
