Former Leicester City winger Matt Piper is desperate to see one Leicester City star get his chance and start games.
The Foxes are 10th in the table after a mixed season which has seen them drop points thanks to numerous individual errors.
One of the players highlighted in particular is Caleb Okoli, and Piper has picked out one candidate who would be perfect to come in and replace the Italian.
TalkingPoints
We're almost a quarter of the way through the season. Where do you think Leicester will finish at the end of the season and why? Champions? Play-offs? Midtable? Or even a relegation battle? 🤷‍♂️
Ilari Kangasniemi has turned into a fan favourite at the King Power Stadium despite barely kicking a ball.
His cameo against Wigan Athletic left Foxes fans clamouring for more and with a run of games featuring Oxford City in the FA Cup, there is no better time for the Finland U21 international to feature.
“He should have had more opportunities than he has done now. The manager did say that if people are making mistakes consistently then they won’t play. He’s not really adhered to that thought process.
“There’s two games coming up in the cup now, which are important, but it gives Martin a chance to look at some of those players. One of them, the main one, being Kangasniemi.
“I would play him in both games and see how he gets on and if he impresses I would put him in ahead of Okoli.”
After facing Oxford City on Friday 6 November, the Foxes complete their Jersey Mike’s Trophy group stage campaign with a home game against Walsall, where a win would seal qualification to the knockout stages.
Their fixture against Bradford City on 14 November has been postponed due to international call-ups, meaning they will return for a trip to league leaders Huddersfield Town on 21 November.
