FC Samartex GM Edmund Ackah rejects match-fixing and questions TV blackout of home games

FC Samartex 1996 General Manager Edmund Ackah has declared that he would immediately resign from his position if the club were ever involved in match-fixing or any other illegal activity.

The experienced football administrator made the strong statement during an interview with Asempa FM, reaffirming his commitment to integrity and transparency in Ghanaian football.

Ackah expressed confidence in the leadership and operations of the Samreboi-based club but made it clear that he would never associate himself with any form of wrongdoing.

“I will resign from FC Samartex if the club engages in anything illegal or match-fixing,” he stated.

Since assuming the role of general manager, Ackah has overseen one of the most successful periods in Samartex’s history, playing a key role in the club’s remarkable rise to win their maiden Ghana Premier League title during the 2023/24 season.

Beyond issues of integrity, Ackah also voiced frustration over the continued absence of Samartex’s home matches from live television coverage.

According to him, the club has been informed that its geographical location and the distance to Samreboi are among the reasons why its matches are not selected for broadcast, a justification he believes is unfair.

“I have heard that our games are not on television because of where we are located and the distance, but that is not fair,” he said.

The Samartex official also dismissed suggestions that the Nsenkyire Sports Arena is unsuitable for live television production, insisting the venue meets the necessary security standards.

“Our stadium is safe because there are CCTV cameras everywhere, so I don’t know why there will be that decision not to air our games,” he added.

Ackah believes clubs should receive equal treatment regardless of their location, arguing that television exposure is essential for promoting the Ghana Premier League, attracting sponsors and giving supporters across the country the opportunity to follow their teams.

Samartex will now shift their focus to on-field matters as they prepare to host Bibiani Gold Stars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in the Matchday Nine fixtures of the Ghana Premier League.

The defending league champions will be aiming to bounce back after dropping points away to Berekum Chelsea and will look to make home advantage count as they seek to return to winning ways.
