Asante Kotoko have reportedly opened discussions with representatives of former Hearts of Oak coach Costa Papic as the club intensifies its search for a new head coach following the departure of Eric Tinkler.

The Porcupine Warriors are assessing potential candidates to take charge of the team, with Papic emerging as one of the names under consideration.

The Serbian tactician is familiar with Ghanaian football, having previously managed Hearts of Oak. His experience with one of Kotoko’s fiercest rivals could add an intriguing dimension to the reported discussions as the Kumasi-based club weighs its options.

However, Papic is not the only candidate being considered, with Romanian coach Marian Marinică also reportedly on Kotoko’s shortlist.

Marinică’s name has emerged as the club explores alternatives in its efforts to appoint a successor to Tinkler and establish a new direction for the team.

Despite the reported discussions with both coaches, Kotoko are yet to reach an agreement with any candidate, leaving the race for the vacant position open.

The club’s next appointment will be crucial as the Porcupine Warriors seek to strengthen their technical leadership and maintain their competitiveness in domestic football.

For now, Papic and Marinică remain among the reported options, with Kotoko expected to continue evaluating their choices before making a final decision.

The search for Tinkler’s replacement remains ongoing, and the club’s supporters will be watching closely for developments regarding who will take charge of the Ghanaian giants.
